Public Meeting to Launch Fusion Map of Invasive Species (5 selected) in Thurles area

Concerned about invasive species such as Rhododendron, Japanese Knotweed,  Giant Hogweed, Himalayan Balsam, or Cherry Laurel  then please join us in Cabragh Wetlands Visitor Centre, Cabragh, Thurles for the launch of this project. The project will be led by Ciarán O’Sullivan a student of Environmental Studies at LIT Thurles. The project details will be presented on September 18th at 7.30pm in Cabragh Wetlands Visitor Centre. There will also be a Q & A session after the presentation.

Heritage Week Tipperary Swift Survey

Join BirdWatch Ireland at Cabragh Wetlands on August 22nd 8 to 9 p.m. to hear the preliminary results of the 2018 Tipperary Swift Survey.

BirdWatch Ireland has been bust during the summer of 2018 surveying county Tipperary for nesting Swifts. This project made possible with Heritage Council funding aims to identify Swift nesting locations throughout the county in order to protect these sites and implement new conservation measure to guarantee Swift survival long into the future. Come along and hear the preliminary results of the survey and what options are available for Swift protection in the county.

Want to get to know your birds? Want to improve your bird ID? We will be walking & talking all things birds. Bring your bird stories. Bird handling and ringing demonstration (weather permitting).

Want to know about Barn Owls, their diet and habits? Want to learn how to identify the birds in your garden? Or just improve your skills. Want to learn about our summer visitors? Would you like to see how we handle and ring birds to gather information about bird populations. Then this event is for you and yours. The Cabragh Wetlands in Thurles provides the perfect setting for getting to know Irish Birds with a large variety of species on site.

Cabragh Wetlands Centre was recently opened by President Michael D Higgins.It was the culmination of a thirty year journey.The people of the Cabragh Wetlands project share their stories and experiences over the last three decades along with the timeless stories of nature itself.
